Journey Into Mystery by Loki Agent of Asgard

After Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie’s acclaimed run on Journey into Mystery, loki agent of asgard gives us heroic Loki at his very best. It’s a book that allows his playfulness to roam while also asking important questions about redemption and free will. The story is also chock full of secret spy antics, unique handlers and lots of action. It’s not surprising that Marvel’s new Loki series is taking its cues from this book.

The God of Mischief is a Frost Giant of Jotunheim, and as such, is naturally superhuman in stature (although not as large as other members of his race), but he also possesses enhanced strength, incredible physical stamina, the ability to project magical force fields, hypnosis, illusion casting and inter-dimensional teleportation. He’s also incredibly intelligent, and has extensive training in the use of magic.

While he once tried to turn over a new leaf with the Asgardians as Kid Loki, this version of the Trickster soon found himself ensnared in the eternal cycle of his own destruction. He would eventually revert to his old self, and commit truly heinous crimes.

He only had a few confidantes besides his archrival, Thor. They included Leah, a Hela slave sent to ensure that Loki fulfilled his debt and Ikol, his former self trapped in the form of a magpie. He often accompanied them on their whimsical adventures and helped save the world a few times, too. But he was destined to return to his evil ways, and he knew it.
