Loki Movie Review

If you’re a fan of the MCU and are still in denial about Thanos choked death, you’ll be happy to know that Loki is alive. In fact, the God of Mischief will be driving the action in his new Disney+ series.

Tom Hiddleston makes a sly, convincing return as Marvel’s most backstabbing Asgardian in this blockbuster-style TV show that takes the hero to some unexpected places. The exposition-heavy premiere establishes the TVA and brings Loki up to speed with his past, present, and future, but the season is really about watching this trickster navigate his way through a premise that demands him to holster his powers and act like a surprisingly good man.

As a result, this Loki feels different than any we’ve seen before, and Hiddleston clearly relishes the opportunity to get in his character’s head. From a vengeful fugitive incensed by the TVA to the more “human” version who mourned his mother in Thor: The Dark World, he really nails this character and delivers some of the show’s best moments.

With a wild, offbeat sense of humor and some truly mind-blowing concepts (including time-travel shenanigans, multiple versions of the same person, and an entire female variant of himself), loki movie is a fun, thrilling ride that’s unlike anything else on television. It may be a bit uneven, but the series has enough ambition and energy to keep fans engaged. The biggest revelation is that, despite what we thought we knew about the Multiverse, there’s a lot more to uncover.
