Loki Odinson Has Moments of Sentiment

Few villains are as beloved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as loki odinson. And it’s largely due to Tom Hiddleston’s performance in the role that fans have such devotion for the Asgardian mischief-maker.

However, there’s more to the character than meets the eye. Though Loki is a monster in many ways, he also has moments of feeling, particularly when it comes to his love for Thor.

During the Contest of Champions, Loki hid behind a holographic projection to communicate with Thor, trying to convince him to abandon Asgard and join him in order to live in luxury. He even offered to give Thor all of the treasures of Asgard, including the Casket of Ancient Winters.

But despite his pleas, Thor was determined to remain true to Asgard and its customs. And in his fervor to do so, he retook his hammer and began to destroy the Rainbow Bridge, leaving Loki to watch in horror.

Then, he looked down at his brother and shook his head, muttering “sentiment.” It was a moment that showed that Loki had a conscience, and even though he often chooses the wrong side of right and wrong, it’s clear he feels fear, regret, and remorse for his actions.

Of course, he then began to scheme against his father again, hoping to stall his coronation so that Odin would blame him and banish him from Asgard for good. He even tried to orchestrate a genocide against the Frost Giants in the hope that it would be enough to prove that he was worthy of the throne, despite finding out that they weren’t actually his bloodline children.
