Loki Official Trailer

The acclaimed Marvel streaming series loki officially returns for its second season on October 6, and this new trailer gives fans a peek at what to expect. This time around, Tom Hiddleston’s trickster god is tripped up by the “Time Variance Authority” and finds himself in a maddening cycle of temporal leaps that are tearing the timeline apart.

The season also sees him visiting Asgard, presumably in a period before it was destroyed in Thor Ragnarok (though the exact location is unclear). It looks like he’ll be tasked with voting on an Asgardian council member, as shown by him wearing a pin that says “vote.” With original series writer Eric Martin taking over the show and returning filmmakers Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead directing some episodes, along with Kasra Farahani and Dan DeLeeuw, this looks to maintain the quality and pulp fiction of the first season.

Also returning is Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, who appears to have fulfilled her purpose in killing Hela in the last season. She also mentions visiting Pompeii, a possibility that ties in with the brief shot from a previous teaser showing her spinning a woman and the wall behind her bearing Roman numerals LXXI.

The trailer wisely keeps Jonathan Majors’ Kang variant Victor Timely largely out of sight (apart from the scene released as one of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s post-credits scenes). The new season also brings in Rafael Casal as Brad Wolfe, better known as Zaniac from the comics.
