Loki Season 2 to Debut on Disney Plus on Thursday

loki disney plus release date

Tom Hiddleston returns as the mercurial God of Mischief for season 2 of Loki, which debuts on Disney Plus on Thursday. It picks up after the first season’s finale and finds Loki in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. He’s joined by Mobius, Hunter B-15, and a team of new and returning characters as he navigates an ever-expanding Multiverse. The show is directed by Kate Herron and written by Michael Waldron. The duo helmed the middle chapters of Moon Knight and have also worked on Channel Zero, VHS: Viral, and Servant.

It Looks Like He Who Remains Will Return

In the season 1 finale, we saw the TVA be dissolved, with He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) using his advanced tech to impress a crowd in what appeared to be the late 1800s. His presence in the new season is unclear, but we know that Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) is back, having fulfilled her purpose of killing her male variant. We’re also seeing new faces like Rafael Casal, who plays a TVA leader, and Ke Huy Quan as a cryptic archivist addressed in the July trailer as “OB.”

How Many Episodes Will There Be in Loki Season 2?

The second season of the Marvel Studios series is slated to have six episodes. As with the first season, it will air on Thursdays at 6PM Pacific/9PM Eastern.

One important difference is that this season will not have an Embargo lift before its premiere. That means that the reviews for the season’s first episode will be able to appear on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its release. This is a departure from most previous Marvel series, which have been held under embargo until the week of their release.
