Loki Teases New MCU Series

The MCU continues to expand to the small screen with Loki, the new series starring Tom Hiddleston as the God of Mischief. The show picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame and finds Hiddleston’s version of the character jumping around time to avoid capture and wreak his own brand of havoc. The show is from head writer Michael Waldron and director Kate Herron and also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, and Richard E. Grant.

The first official trailer for the show was revealed at Disney’s Investor Day presentation on Thursday. In it, we see the Time Variance Authority — a secretive organization that’s tasked with maintaining timeline integrity — capturing Loki for stealing the Tesseract. The trailer shows a lot of action with a few moments of humor, including the agent calling Loki “really arrogant.”

A second trailer was released earlier today that gives us a bit more context for the show. It opens with a shot of Loki’s face and voiceover from the agent who captured him, explaining that it was a “dangerous” time for his universe and that they needed to get him away. We then get a quick glimpse of the Time Variance Authority headquarters, which looks like a Brazil-style demesne.

The series will debut on June 11, which is a few days sooner than Marvel usually releases its big TV projects such as WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It will run for six episodes.
