Marvel’s MCU has given us some of the most memorable sibling rivalries in modern cinema, but none are more layered than the dynamic between Thor and Loki. Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth have brought the mischievous siblings to life with a tumultuous relationship that is at once playful, complex, and deeply touching. Their complicated relationship has made them a fan favorite, and a new Loki series will allow viewers to explore his MCU journey in more depth than ever before.
Overview
Loki is the son of Odin, the Allfather and king of Asgard, above Midgard (Earth), Helheim, the realm of the dead, and Svartalfheim, home of the frost giants. He is the God of Mischief and possesses immense sorcery powers. His abilities include teleportation, astral projection, and the ability to manipulate reality and time. He is also an Eldthur, an immortal fire Jotunn with the ability to manipulate fire and personify it.
He is known for his wit and manipulation, but he also has a deep sense of loyalty and compassion. His adoptive mother Frigga adores him and taught him the ways of astral projection, which he uses to aid his mortal comrades. He also cares for his adopted brother, who he sees as his equal in his quest to defend the Asgardian realms and humankind. However, he is driven by jealousy at their closeness. This pushed him to steal the Casket of Asgard from Odin and unleash the Frost Giants on Jotunheim, in which he was ultimately defeated by Laufey.
