As the god of mischief, Loki is a formidable opponent. He can fly, cast powerful spells, and wields a surprisingly adept pair of blades. But in a fight with Doctor Strange, who is the universe’s most powerful sorcerer, Loki would be at an extreme disadvantage.
In the MCU, we have seen the two battle a few times, most recently in Thor Ragnarok. When they fought in the Sanctum Sanctorum, Dr. Strange easily teleported away Loki, even though he was brimming with rage and holding a pair of knives.
That fight was in a pocket dimension, but in general, Doctor Strange has the edge over Loki due to his Asgardian heritage. He can draw on a larger wellspring of mystical energy than any other sorcerer, and he has access to Asgardian artifacts and monsters. As the Sorcerer Supreme, he has access to a vast array of magical tools and weapons that aren’t available on Earth.
But the main difference between Doctor Strange and Loki is their mental toughness. Doctor Strange works hard, even after repeated losses, to master magic and improve his skills. He’s not afraid to try crazy things. Loki, on the other hand, glorifies winning and tends to lash out when he loses.
In the end, it’s hard to predict what will happen in a full-on showdown between these two. But we know that Loki is currently in a Multiverse of Madness, which could potentially impact what happens between Marvel’s two most powerful sorcerers.
