Marvel Comics Guide – Thor
The mythology told about Norse Mythology is often fascinating, and include many interesting myths and legends that many people simply love or enjoy. Thor and Loki are two powerful characters who are often part of many of the most famous myths in the Norse Mythology. They are often shown to be fighting each other, which adds to the intrigue and drama. Often both characters are shown as being mighty fighters, which makes the fights even more exciting.
After a long absence, Thor returned to reality and was dismayed to find that he was indeed back in the real world. However, instead of going home he decided to visit Midgard, where he met with Balder, who in turn had been summoned by Thor. Balder informed Thor that there is an army of monsters prowling around the world, and that they are being led by a giant named Odinn, whom they intend to destroy. Thor then made a deal with Odinn, that if he agrees to help him destroy the monsters, then Thor will bestow upon him three magic treasures – the hammer of fortune, the sword of fire and the chain/waist band of Odinn. When Thor received these treasures, he became possessed with the spirit of Balder, meaning that his hammer Mjollnar is actually Balder’s hammer, Mjollnar being one of the three magic treasures given to Thor.
In the present day, we see that Thor is once again summoned by the High Kings of Asgard, but this time to defeat the feared sorceress named Hela. Thor is tricked into thinking that his hammer Mjollnar has been stolen by Hela, but he soon finds out that Thor has already returned to reality, and Hela is now the ruler of the Nine realms of magic. Once again, Thor is tricked by Hela into fighting her, but this time, Thor uses his newly acquired powers to trap Hela in netherworld, where she is unable to harm him. However, while battling her, Thor discovers that the hammer Mjollnar is still within his possession, and this time, it is possessed by the mighty warrior named Skurf who is residing in present-day New Mexico.
