The Evolution of the Loki Character

loki character

Marvel and its creators have done a remarkable job of taking the character of Loki and making him into one of the most compelling villains in the MCU. While his actions may seem inexcusable (attempting to kill his brother, faking his own death, inviting violent aliens to invade Earth so he can rule it) he has an unmistakable devilish charm that he brings to every scene.

As a result, the God of Mischief has become more than just a villain: He’s also an antihero and a conflicted character who is capable of both good and evil. Over the course of five films and a 2021 TV series, Loki has evolved into something more than a one-film villain and now finds himself in a new phase of his story.

Throughout his career, Loki has proven that it’s not just what you do but how you do it that matters. His ability to sway the outcome of any situation with his words, his ruthless and manipulative personality, and his constant antagonism towards Thor make him a formidable opponent. He has a ferocity that makes him dangerous to any foe, but he’s also capable of forming legitimate alliances.

It’s this trait that makes him so fascinating as a character, and is what gives Mackenzi Lee’s Loki such depth. Despite finding himself at the end of his own timeline in Avengers: Infinity War, and seeing his own upcoming death, the God of Mischief still manages to find hope.
