The first trailer for Marvel’s Loki has dropped, and it looks like it’s going to be a wild ride!
As fans may recall, Loki absconded with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame and caused a major disruption to time. To fix things, the infamous God of Mischief is tasked with working with the TVA, or the Time Variance Authority, which aims to keep timelines running smoothly.
This is the biggest hint that the show will revolve around a lot of time travel. It’s a big part of the MCU, and it would make sense for it to be used as a key plot device in this show.
The trailer opens with a montage of different times and places. There are shots of 70s New York, Vikings and Mongols.
There’s also a glimpse of the future. This is a time when the universe has become “faced with utter destruction” and no one remembers Loki.
While we don’t know if this is a reference to the popular Vote Loki internet meme, it definitely seems like something that could be relevant for this character.
This trailer shows a lot of hints that the series will revolve around time travel and how it can be used to manipulate people. It also introduces Owen Wilson’s Mobius, who is trying to use Loki’s powers of deception to save the universe.
