Two years after the God of Mischief popped through a Time Door into his own show, he’s back for another round of time-travel hijinks on Disney+. This time, the multiverse is in danger, and he’s the only one who can save it. Starring Tom Hiddleston and Mobius (Owen Wilson), the series premieres October 5.
While the show’s first season might not have been as impactful as some of Marvel’s other spinoffs, it did prove to be a solid entry in the MCU that took an interesting turn. The series delves into the concept of the Multiverse while also exploring a different side of the God of Mischief, and although it might not have captured everyone’s attention initially, it should be an entertaining ride for anyone who gives it a chance.
The show begins with Loki being captured by the Time Variance Authority, a government agency tasked with protecting “sacred timelines.” He’s joined by Mobius, a laconic, easygoing agent who’s the perfect foil to Hiddleston’s Shakespearean drama. The team must work together to keep the multiverse safe from He Who Remains and his many variants.
The second season will see the addition of Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie Loki, Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan as the villainous Timely, and the return of Jonathan Majors as Kang. The show’s executive producer has said that they never intended to reshoot Majors’ scenes with a different actor or recast the role, as doing so would feel “hasty” given the ongoing legal issues surrounding his arrest and trial.
