One of the most interesting superheros ever created was the Loki action figure. The figure was created by Dreamworld and was meant to be the last product from the infamous “Masters of the Arena” video game series. Yes, the same video game that reinvented the spiderman and batman games. It featured two of the best villains to come out of Marvel at the time and I think they pulled of an underrated job. The figure is way overpriced and I don’t think it’s worth it for the price, but if you’re looking for a solid figure that you can display on your shelf or in your display case then you’ve got no choice.
What makes the Norse god of thunder great is his golden necklace that contains a glowing heart just like the one he wears in the video game. That aside, this figure has a nice selection of weapons as well as a shield and spear. His cape also snaps up to form a neat sword and the actual weapon is a battle ax which is quite helpful when fighting opponents. One thing that really sucks is that the only articulation the statue has comes from his chest which leaves him with a rather limited number of poses. This doesn’t take away from the realism factor of the design though because it does look like he is really standing in front of you and ready to fight.
Like all of Mattel’s Masters of the Arena series, the Loki action figure features lots of great articulation which is very important to a lot of action figure fans. What makes this figure so great though is the fact that it is one of the few to feature Eric Bana’s voice. Eric has also done the voice of several other characters including Ghost, Thanos, Volstagg and Wasp. The voice is just as great on this collectible as it is for those that don’t like his voice. You can pick your own voice either way and the included earpiece is pretty comfortable. Also, the included sword and shield is detachable which means you can pose the figure in many different ways.
