The loki scepter is one of the most iconic items of the god of mischief. It has been used by multiple different versions of Loki over the years and has even made its way into the MCU movies. The scepter is a powerful weapon with many functions. It can be used to stab people or shoot energy blasts. It also allows Loki to mind control people with a touch.
Loki first wielded the scepter in Avengers (2012). In the movie, he uses it to take control of the scepter from his brother Laufey who tries to kill him. During this scene, Loki also uses it to create an illusion of the tesseract.
Later, he brings it to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters and tries to use it again, but the other Avengers prevent him. Loki then tries to use it with another variant of himself called Sylvie, who is trying to free her Sacred Timeline from the TVA. By touching the tip of the scepter to someone’s chest, Loki can possess them and completely submerge their free will with his directives. It’s also used to slash or impale enemies.
The scepter was used to communicate with Other when planning the invasion of Earth. It was then taken by sleeper agents and transferred to the HYDRA base in Sokovia where it was used to power up recovered Chitauri technology and bestow latent superhuman powers on Pietro Maximoff and Wanda Maximoff. It was also used to control the Tesseract and its power in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and ‘Endgame’.
