The Return of Loki to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

When the Avengers first introduced Loki to the world, he was a curious addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film aimed to tell the back story of the dead character while repositioning him as a hero. Prior to that, the character had been the foil of Thor and an antagonist in the comics. Unfortunately, his arrival undermined the entire franchise. While there was a good reason for reintroducing Loki, the movie failed to do so.

During Avengers: Infinity War, Loki escaped Thanos’s grasp by traveling into time to meet his own servant. In doing so, he created a version of himself that existed outside the official timeline of the universe. As a result, he was captured by the Time Variance Authority. His storyline lasted less than a minute. While it was a surprisingly engaging story, fans were left feeling conflicted with Loki’s behavior.

After Thor rescues Laufey from Loki, he must battle the god of war. In order to do so, he is aided by his fellow Asgardians, including Thor. However, the god of war has a more sinister motive. While Thor tries to save his sons, he accidentally destroys his own kingdom. Fortunately, he was able to stop Loki before his plan could happen, as he has been in hiding for a long time. Loki’s goal was to destroy Jotunheim. Eventually, Thor and his brothers are freed and return to Earth, where they are reunited with Odin.

Ultimately, Loki is angry with Thor, and uses the Mind Stone to take over Earth. The Avengers manage to stop Loki’s plan and bring him back to Asgard. The Avengers then defeat Loki and the Chitauri army. Loki dies in this confrontation, but not before he had an opportunity to reunite with his brother. If this were to happen again, however, the Avengers would surely win. Loki is the one responsible for the death of Thor’s mom.
