In the Marvel comic book world, Thor and Loki are cousins and friends. Thor is an adventurous champion of truth, who always seems to get the punches (and backstabs) when it comes to fighting villains such as Dr. Doom and Thanos. While on a mission to rescue his brother, Thor finds himself transported to the planet of Sakaar where he encounters a race of beings known as the Skrulls who have strange powers and look very similar to their traditional ancestors from the planet Earth.
The book then switches to the future where Thor is once again called to action where he teams up again with his friend and fellow champion, Jane Foster, but this time he has to save the Earth against a horde of Skrulls and other villains who want to rule the planet. In the meantime, back on Earth, Bruce Banner has developed a serum that allows him to turn into a Hulk-like monster known asulk, and the Avengers are called in once again to deal with the Skrulls and the Hulk. In the end, Thor and Hulk join forces once again and the Avengers are once again a team.
Overall, this is a good book. There is some story elements included that are interesting, and the visuals are engaging. I liked how Thor would return to the earlier part of the book when he was just a young boy, and how he and Hulk would bicker with each other about their past. However, I do not think I enjoyed the character development of Thor and Loki as much as I did the previous novel, “The Incredible Hulk.”
